today i’ve created a new blog at blogspot… blogspot offers more flexibility than this current one. I wanted sth other than juz being able to write about my encounters… i needed sth which i can beautify and include something special for myself like favourite songs and oso nice pictures in the navigation bar. Sarawak’s State election was scheduled on last Saturday, May 20th. On this morning, I’d went to work as an polling agent at one of the spot destined to serve as a polling station. Everything had seemed to be within control, being totally new to the ‘political voting world’, i’d managed to gather some useful information concerning our duty as a citizen. Many had come forward to cast their vote, and even the crippled and those having other movement difficulties, had come forward. For once I’d felt myself to be such an irresponsible citizen as i’d never bothered to register myself for any coming election. Seeing such a scenario, I realised youngsters nowadays had not bothered to make a change concerning any dissatisfaction they hold against the society, but instead only stood aside to complain. Hadn’t they realised that action is still stronger than words????
Perhaps this is wat had really happened in the Swak State election this time. SUPP had lost most of its seats in the capital of Sarawak. They had lost 4 seats out of 5 contested chinese-majority seats in Kuching area. The result was shocking to almost every Chinese in Swak. It’d been an unexpected loss for the SUPP. The news had labeled the scenario as a ‘Chinese revolt’ against SUPP, and many had commented that they had sensed tat something was amiss even before the election in Swak. SUPP had always been a strong party in BN, supporting the welfare of the Chinese society of Swak. It’s not right to refer to this situation as a chinese revolt against the SUPP. No matter what, citizens has the right to fend for their own welfare… the issue hilighted from The Star dated 22ndMay saying… “ Party leaders appeared to have lost the courage to stand up against the state Barisan’s top leadership on various issues, like the extension of leases for residential and commercial land, and high lease renewal premiums that affected urban Chinese “… could not have been any clearer of how most of the citizens of Swak are feeling.
Citizens of normal wages had not much to hope for, other than a promising future for their children and of course a shelther for ourselves, which is best described as ‘a roof over our heads’. This isn’t sth too much to ask for, as its only human’s nature to want to have the best assurance for ourselves. Life is getting harder and harder day by day. Hopefully the government will understand the pressure it’s citizens are facing, and will come to realise that there is clearly unhappiness over issues of governance. The impact of the election this time should be clear enough to once again remind our leaders of the people’s welfare!
Finally it's over!!! 'Our Star Concert 2006' had come to an end!
Today had been a long day for me. Phew!!! Took half day leave today so tat i can make it in time for the performance. However i did not rest at home in the afternoon, whereas i was wid my fren searching around Kuching for certain stuff tat we will need for our dance. Bought safety pins, hair pins, wrist band….
Then rush home to prepare my stuff…. There were so much to bring. All the clothes and accessories. Phew…. Then need to make up and hair do somemore… reach Song Kheng Hai around 630pm and i hadn't had time to take proper dinner so i juz grab along some mini 'tau sa pau' to eat along the way there.
It had been a grand nite. So many singers were there…… hahaha….. The first dance sucks. The music hadn't been played correctly from the beginning, making us lose count on our first steps and only til halfway did we manage to get it correctly. It was a 'hip hop' dance… and it's nice juz tat our timing must haf differ a bit then. Wat a regret. The music shud had been played correctly because it had spoilt our effort n all the long hour practices!
Second dance, was okie. I manage to see some of the video friends had recorded. Still okie… though i was wearing boots but luckily the cameraman did not focus on my unstable spins in the dance. The rest was still okie. The last and final dance was the best! Everyone said it was good and nice! I feel so proud of myself. Though there are still some part for us to improve on, but so far it had stunned a lot of audience and we were praised for our performance. Feel glad tat we had done well in this dance cox we had not wasted all our hardships!
Getting ready for all the shows was tiring. There weren't any proper changing rooms… juz some set up wooden and temporary rooms for us since the stage was built temporary on the field at Song Kheng Hai. All the accessories we needed… and the clothes… and hair do… 
But it's really a very memorable event for me. I know i won't have many more years to be able to dance on stage in front of so many audience…. let's juz say i had done it before during the walk of my life path, and no matter what… it's sort of an achievement and experience for myself!
The 1st Msia Superstar 'John'… and many more other singers was there. I dunno their english name… 'zhang jue long' , 'chen ren fung', '… guo hui'.. Too bad Nicholas Teo is not here to perform. But i think only day dreaming lar… he's so famous now, think will even forget Kuching really soon!
Now both my legs are very tired. Stiff… My hair still wet since i'd juz washed it so i cant go to bed yet. Anyway, when i haf any photos for tonite's performance, i'll paste it here…. so continue to tune in! Thanks…………..
Had been some time since i put some words here…
Lots had happened and lots of ups and downs. Sigh!!! Life… just so tired of it. It's quite late now and my hair is still wet. Had just washed my hair and if any of you are wondering why the hell i'd wash my hair so late in the night, it's because i'd juz finish exercising!
Lately am busy wid dance practice. Performance is juz around the corner which will be on the coming Thurs, 18th May. Hmm… quite pressure this time as i'll be doing 3 dance; wid 2 new dance. Nervous and scared… though 1 will be an old dance which i'd performed before, but it'd been quite some time since we re-practice tat dance. Anyway, I hope i'll do well and pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee………………. pray tat i wont fall down on stage! For one of the dance, i'll need to wear boots wid the heels measuring up to 3 inches high; and i rarely wear heels normally, but now for me to dance and jump on stage wid tat heights fastened on my 2 foot…. scare scare… jump and moving around is still okie but the spinning and turn around part which is my worst skill…. i still cant really master the art of spinning and turning urself around gracefully enough. Must be my legs hard to coordinate wid my weight which causes sort of imbalance in my movement! (i oso dunno wat i'm trying to explain… heee)
Anyway, i'm real tired now. Hopefully i'll be able to do my best on Thurs… cox it doesn't concern only me. All my frens had been practicing so hard, and i really hope i won't let them down and will be able to present a good show!
Stage fright???!!! YES!!! I owest have stage fright! Always………. cold hand and cold feet and rumbling stomach…. ;( hopefully i'll be able to overcome fear…… Wish me luck!
23rd Mar - Argh!!! I'm back to work! It's 1125 now and i'm feeling really sleepy. As predicted, I'll have some things to do once I get back to work. Still need to fix some bugs and do a full system testing once I've completed. After tat, still got some documentation to do and to go thru a prepared system usual manual to double-check if it's clear enough…. (shrugged my shoulders, i guessed all manuals are the same… how clear can it be without really using the system anyway!)
~Okie, updates on d trip tis time to KL…~ Basically, spent lots of time eating, and eating and eating… and shopping, and shopping and shopping -> fullstop!
16th Mar - Scheduled flight at 2020, retimed to 2055 and later delayed til 2210. Sigh!!! Airasia…. it's always like that. d next time i'm going to board a plane, i'll make sure I'll be bringing some reading material along! Reached real late, nearly midnight and went supper wid hiewming. Long time din go to any mamak stalls, and i do missmamak stalls' food. We ate a mamak stall at Seri Kembangan… ordered mee goreng mamak and roti 'jingling' (it sounded like tat but i dunno how to spell it! :p) Tasty! So it's Eating Session No. 1. After tat, went back to hiewming's place and ventured into dreamland!
17th Mar – Here come Eating Session No. 2. hiewming brought me out for breakfast at a dim sum stall, hmmm somewhere nearby her place, and we ate quite a heavy breakfast…. one tat can last us way past lunch, so we don't haf to take lunch later and can concentrate on our shopping spree session. hee…. we went to midvalley n i went to hunt for heels and ended up i bought a pair of heels from Nose and a pair of wedges from Vincci. Choices in KL are really so much more than Kch and at times when I needed new shoes, I'll try to wait for the time i can go over to KL to shop for new ones! (of cuz tat is only if my wallet permits me to do so)
Then we went to have a cup of tea and a few toast for teatime. We will have a grand feast later tat nite, so a light tea will allow us to eat more later for dinner. we decided to fix karhooi's bachelor nite on fri instead of sat cox she'll be throwing a party at home…. so the only time we have will be only on fri nite. We went for dinner at a restaurant nearby hiewming's place and it was hiewming's treat. Wow!!! The food was a lot, 7-course meal… and all delicious! The main order tat nite was crabs… cooked in a new way tat i've never tasted before… crabs with salty eggs' yolks… superb!!! Imagine the level of cholesterol tat i'd have accumulated tat nite only from tat dish…. but it's nice! Really nice…. (even now i feel so hungry, but tat nite we really ate too much) Other than tat we had steamed fish, tofu, vege, sambal petai, nasi goreng, and hokkien mee cooked wid tofu (new style )…
All the food were nice and tasty…. but there were really so much to eat for 5 gals (can say 4 only ~ since karhooi didn't help much)…. i couldn't stopped laughing when yunnyi said seelee looked worriedly and silently at the crab tat she was holding, dazed and her stare fixed as if someone were forcing her to gulp down poison! ha ha… After dinner we were cracking our heads where in the world we would want to celebrate karhooi's bachelor nite.
As usual, karhooi got no comment… she only suggested sleeping! Sigh… such a pig! She didn't wan to go clubbing as she dislikes noisy places… so finally we settled for karaoke session ~ 1200 – 0400 at LowYat RedBox. This bride-to-be din even sing one complete song for us and we kept on picking songs for her… but she doesn't want to entertain us. Finally hiewming chose "Mary Had a Little Lamb" for karhooi to sing! Sigh!!! Seems like we were enjoying ourselves more than she did…. she's only interested in sleep and food!
18th Mar – It was 0500++ when we went back to hiewming's place…. hiewming, karhooi n me… spent the nite at hiewming's place as yunnyi didn't wan to bring karhooi home. :p… she got 'secret' hidden in her bedroom! We slept til 1030++ (only hiewming n me, as karhooi was too nervous n she woke up at 0800)… and washed up and proceed to One Utama for Eating Session No. 3… we went to Chilies….. hehe…. the food there is nice and BIG portion! We had 'salad with buffalo chicken', 'grilled chicken', 'nanchos', and another 'salmon steak'. (hmmm…. let's juz hope i got the dishes' name correctly as i'm not familiar wid chilies)
After lunch, it's time to drop off our bride-to-be for her manicure and pedicure session. Before that we did a very fun and meaningful thing together! We went to snap our "tip ji xiong" together (sticker-photos of ourselves)… we know tat norm this activity is only suitable for the "mui mui chai"… hahaha… and i guess we don't fit into tat category anymore. But we had promised each other b4 to snap "tip ji xiong" together… and since i'm there in kl then, tat's the most suitable time or else they'll have to wait for another year for me to go kl to meet them… n by tat time, really aunties go to snap "tip ji xiong"!!! ~Lagi memalukan~
The gal at the counter was really helpful and asked if we know how to use d machine… which was obviously NO, WE DON"T!!!
We paid RM20 for the tokens needed and headed off to pick our fave machine. The gal guided us all thru the process… with us rushing thru it, trying to pose the best we could within the limited time allowed! We need to select the background we wanted, then after the photos were taken, we'll need to colour the background (yunnyi dunno how to colour n simply colour ppl's hair blue!) and later accessorise it the way we wanted by adding decorative icons! So much fun… then we wil need to wait for a few seconds for the photos to be developed and WOW…. the photos were nice and sweet!
Something I'll definitely treasure! We looked so young and happy and it was really so much fun! Too bad we don't have seelee together with us!Then we went shopping… and after karhooi's manicure n pedicure session completed, we went to Baskin & Robbins for ice cream. Hmm… dunno if i'll describe it as nice cox it was way too sweet for me. But since i've never spent so much for a few scoops of ice cream before, it's worth the try but it's really not cheap for sth tat ordinary. Guess the only major difference is that B&R serve a wide variety of flavours for icecream lovers. For dinner tat nite, we went over to karhooi's uncle's place in Gombak. Her family threw a party for her, and again we ate a heavy meal… our Eating Session No. 4. We must be having some luck over that few days, as we keep on having lots of nice food to eat and fren's treats! hee… We went back home after dinner so that we can haf enough rest for the following day. Guess these few days of entertainments and stuffings, had seriously drained most of our energy but at least i don't have to drive. hiewming and yunnyi must be feeling dozens times more tired than what i must be feeling. hmm…. how about the bride-to-be???
If i really get married next time, I MUST figure out a way to not let u all sabotage my beauty sleep n resting time! hahaha…..
19th Mar – karhooi's big day had finally came! we went over to her place real early, and hiewming and i reached her place at 8am. karhooi was getting ready… pan-leng-leng, to be the prettiest and most beautiful one tat day! Well, i hadn't really attended a lot of ppl's wedding, and not to mention how to know wat the customs might be. But for me, it's a new experience everytime…. now karhooi's married, so left hiewming, yunnyi, and seelee for me to be "chi mui" next time (i mean the most probably ones tat i need to fly over to peninsular again!)
well, as for the tasks tat karhooi's beloved wil need to do tat day… hahaha…. i guessed we all had fun! The most funny part for me was when all the "heng tai" need to sacrifice for the groom… when they were asked to line up and one-by-one had their lips circled with lipstick! seelee really took up her chance and drew a BIG circle around the lips of one of the guys… (chuckling to myself when i tot of tat)… the groom was made to sing (more like shout out) love songs for the bride, 5 songs to express his love for her, then there was also a language/dialect test when the groom was asked to express his love for the bride using all types of diff language/dialect, and also a hunting session when the groom was asked to hunt for one of the bride's heels.
…once in a lifetime chance and something to be remembered for all times, so to all u guys who are reading tis… it's definitely worth the teasings and being made fun of by us gals!!! something sweet to be cherished always and to be kept in the heart of the bride! (we shud have asked all the heng-tai to finish the leftover food from the nite before especially all the hot & spicy KFC chicken!!! – but we are juz being too kind to them… i hope they appreciate our generosity!!) then we escorted the groom & bride to the groom's place and we had lunch there, over at his place. Eating Session No. 5 then…
after tat we went over to yunnyi's place to rest. so tiring… and so tiring…. but it's worth it for our dearest karhooi!!! for the dinner tat nite, which was Eating Session No.6, we dressed up and attended karhooi's wedding dinner. Glad to be able to meet up with some old friends and found out that after we graduated, basically most of us have had some changes. The most memorable thing tat nite at karhooi's wedding dinner was a "hot-uncle"… who made the atmosphere so much different from wat we normally have… he must had been a "kaki-disco" when he was young. Even now with white hair all over his head, he can rap and sing and dance even better than me! Bravo Uncle!!!
20th, 21st, 22nd Mar – On these few days after karhooi's wedding, i spent the remaining time in KL shopping around. Went to the movies on Mon wid hiewming. Miss those time back in uni days when once in awhile we would go to GSC Midvalley for cheap movie (student rate). Had never watched premier class movies before and hiewming and I had planned to try it out. Since we are earning our own dime now, we do feel tat it's more appropriate for us to be spending our own money the way we wanted to. Unlike back in those days when we'd cared very much as to not overspend. However, we weren't able to get the premier class movie tat day at Times Square as we'd missed the 0130 show and would need to wait til later for tat. So went for the normal movie and watched Underworld 2.
After movie, we went to SS2. Mon had been fixed for pasar malam in SS2. Made me think back again of those days back in uni where it'd be one of our past time to stroll down the lanes of the pasar malam, buying food, pirated installers & VCDs & mp3s… those were the days when we'd look fwd to any pasar malam during the weekdays and go to get our dinner or any other tit-bits for ourselves. How long ago it'd seemed to be!
On Mon nite, i went over to fongyew's place and spent the nite wid her. She used to be my roommate when i used to stay in Seksyen17. All thru those years she'd always acted like a big sis to me. She's still the same and sleeps real early. At least on Mon nite she accompanied me til 12am which was the best she could cope with. Back then 11pm was the best she could do in order to stay awake. 
Tat nite she told me tat her bf & her had decided to tie the knot & would register first before holding their wedding ceremony. I was the very first one that she had told the news to… feel very glad for her… seeing her so clear & sure of her path ahead. Blessings be with you owest, my dear.. sincerely from my heart!
On Tues the following day, met up wid another of my ex-housemate of mine…. soonsieng. She's preparing for her marriage which is scheduled in June. We chatted and talked, bringing up about our pasts together when we were all living together. I guess these are how eventually real friends will turn out to be. No matter how you'd used to disagree with each other, and no matter how unsatisfy you might be before over certain issues, time will eventually heal past grudges. Sigh! Everyone seems to be settling down and venturing into another stage of their life soon… the unpredictable me always seems to surprise a lot of ppl. Some ppl think they are able to foresee the path that i'm bound to venture upon without much difficulty… however the most unsure one in the whole wide world is still the owner of the life that they are able to foresee!
had dinner tat nite wid hiewming & yunnyi. On Wed morn, I had breakfast wid hiewming. She brought me to the place where she normally had breakfast and I had curry mee and a very, very nice glass of "kopi peng". It's supposed to be white-coffee, with some additional ingredients to be able to introduce tat "just-right coffee & milky taste" for me…. after breakfast, hiewming dropped me off at the serdang station and i took the trains to KLCC. Shop around there and looked for yunnyi & szehau for lunch tat day. after tat, i went back to serdang station again to meet hiewming, who'd send me to the airport.
so much for my trip to KL this time. Glad tat i had chance to go around to some places, and had a get-together with old friends. Made me realised basically time do fly and seems like most ppl around are progressing more than i am! Maybe i had been in my comfort zone for far too long…. i had forgotten how to strive for myself!
those were the memories back then, and eventually a part of what i am today. basically i enjoyed myself over there in kl during these few days made me realise some of the things i'd not bothered to think of before. most of all, enjoyed all the companionship i got from frens. I know you all are busy but still purposely spared time for me. Thanks a lot & Luv' u all!!!
It's 13th March 2006 today…. Had been back from Siem Reap for about 5days now. Was busy at work and busy wid life and hadn't had any time to jot down experiences that I had gained during my current trip to Cambodia. Further changes had need to be incorporated into the system I handled at work. Phew!!! Hopefully I can finish and hand in a satisfactory system before I go on leave again for the 2nd time in this month. Wil be going to KL soon ~16th March~ to attend one of my best friend's big day – karhooi's wedding day!
Once i reached KL, we go for karaoke session at Sunway RedBox til 0300 am…. hahaha…. these "kaki-k" frens of mine!!! Though we have a flight to catch the very next morn, we still go on wid our karaoke plan! Juz like how it used to be during uni days karaoke-ing wid them! LUV u guys! The room we had tat nite was so big… it must be the biggest room at RedBox Sunway cox it can accomodate about 30persons! They run out of room so let us used the superior rooms…. having a big, big projector screen. Wah… 4 of us in tat big room…. we jumped, danced, run here n there as we like!
3rd March – Reached Siem Reap Airport and the weather was HOT! When we were about to land in Siem Reap, the view from above and from in the airplane, it was such a pitiful sight to behold. The land was flat and dry, and obviously it's a land for farming but it's so much different from Msia. In our country we have lusciously green fields, but the fields there were brown and dry. Perhaps it's too hot there… in KL, when u are about to land from an aircraft, you can see lots of skyscrapers and big buildings and at the areas nearby KLIA, you can see lots of green 'kelapa sawit' plantations. And if in Kuching, you can see even more greeneries…. big, wide, green rainforest and wid curving, broad, big rivers…. It just made our land seems to be so much richer!
We only saw a few wooden shacks and I was wondering about the amount of buildings they haf there in Siem Reap. But I guess since it is the airport, perhaps any bigger buildings would have been situated further away from it. The local time there was about 1 hour later than our local time, so a scheduled 2 hours 05 mins flight which departed at 1000, and we arrived at 1105.
We boarded a van which drove us to a budget hotel, which we inspected and bargained for a reasonable price ~ USD8 per nite pax. Then we headed off for the Old Market for our lunch, which was quite a disappointing welcoming meal… the beef fried rice I ordered came out to be a rather soggy texture fried rice. Maybe it's the style there, and the taste was something which I had never come across for any fried ricessssssssss in Msia.
After easing our tummies, the first targeted location was Tonle Sap. I remembered this name in my Geography book… describing it as a Great Lake and an unique geographical wonder. People live there, and transform it into a floating village… the FLOATING VILLAGE of TONLE SAP… something that's really different and unique. The so-called lake is really wide and big, and if I hadn't been told that it's actually a lake, I would have described it as a sea. Practically, you can't see any of the banks when you are in the middle of the lake. I saw tourists cruising on long boats, like us, and the villagers of the floating village carrying out their daily life in their floating houses. They have groceries stores, church, boat fixing workshops, school, and even basketball court, just like a normal village except that all these are floating on water and in the middle of a great big lake. Children just jumped off the front porch of their floating shacks and into the waters for a dive or a swim. Long boats' drivers skilfully made their way through the lake as if driving cars on land. Floating village of Tonle Sap… something that I'll always remember as it's the very fist time I view something like this which was totally out of any pictures I have in my mind. Living in Msia is really so much better… and I'm really way much luckier if compared to them…
After the journey to Tonle Sap, the next stop is to some temple to view the sunset. All along the way to this temple (i had forgotten the name, i think only hiewming can remember) we went through lots of wooden houses. These are the living places of the locals, rundown and simple-built, which only consist of one big space being surrounded by four-sided walls…. no rooms divided and no furnitures and no electrical appliances. Old folks sitting on the front door, looking worried and children running outside on the dusty roads. Most of the locals rested on hammocks, which they hung on 2 tall piece of wood…. i guess they can't afford to buy any bed or is it because it's much more comfortable and cooler?
To watch the sunset, we climbed uphill in order to reach the temple. Lots of ppl made their way uphill to the temple too and practically the hill was covered with people and big elephants making their way through the jungle by the side of the uphill route, carrying people to the temple above. A fare of USD15 is charged for one ride on the elephant, which can carry about 5adults on it's back. That's too expensive for us, so we climbed all the way to the top of the hill to reach the temple. Once we reached the top of the hill, we still need to climb the steep steps of the tall temple in order to reach the top of the temple. I was so scared as the steps were really steep and small. Clung to any rocks which can assist and ease my climbing, and wid shaky limbs, i braced myself to climb the steps of the temples. Really wonder how those ancient ppl who used to be in this civilisation before can climb up these steep steps. Are they blessed wid much more agile limbs??? So much climbing were wasted as we couldn't really view the sunset that day, which was shadowed by the clouds. We can only view the beautiful colours of the sky as the sun was about to set.
So much exercise made us feel even hungrier than we are and we made our ways to a restaurant for our dinner. On our way to the restaurant, they stopped by the roadside to by BUGS as snacks! Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh………………………. they tore off it's wings and bug legs…. and chomp chomp… i swear i felt sick! Local food of Cambodia…..
Dinner was much better tat day. At least we don't have to eat bugs!
4thMarch – Got ready b4 0530 and departed b4 dawn to view sunrise at Angkor Wat. 
Nice view but I was tired. Try uphill climbing and still wake up early. Breakfast and more hard activities to go. We jungle trekked 1.5km into a so-call jungle to see a so-call waterfall which only have a small shower of water. Sigh…. under the hot sun and 1.5km to see a few drop of water, and some rocks carving and another 1.5km out…. not on normal, tar road… mind u all… but jungle treks, rocks and more uphill climbing as well… it's not really a nature walk. Bako National Park is 100x better than that if it's for a nature walk. Waterfall….. back in Msia we'll have more water for our waterfalls definitely. Wah…. lack of sleep and excessive excercising of our muscles and limbs…
I guess I'm juz not an art lover and can never be an archeologist, as I juz don't seem to be as attracted as the others there at what I saw. Yes, I understand the carvings were handmade, and tat these ancient ppl were considered amazing as they are able to carve these statues of their gods… be it Hindu gods or Buddha gods… but I really cant express that look of amusement on my face. Some of the tourists were gasping at the so-called river (almost drying up and the flow of the water were like the running of a drain water)… and I wondered if I'm qualifiy for an art-nerd. Sigh!
More temples to visit at 1200 noon… under the scorching sun… headache and migraine, i guess from dehydration. I guess if you really cant appreciate all these ancient stuffs, it's much more torturing then enjoying. After a round at wat was supposed to be one of the most beautiful temples there… wat's the name… Banteay Srei????…. I sat down to rest at a less scorching place with yunnyi n lowtuck. The back of my ankles were blistered and part of my skin peeled off from the jungle trek session i had tat morn in inappropriate shoes. If i had known I would have to jungle trek, mount climb in order to reach some of the temples here, i'd have came in my sport shoes… though i guess my shoes will have to be replaced once i come back to Kuching or else the whole sole would have flew off the next time i go for my modern-dancing class!
After lunch, I really decided to give up on Cambodia. No more temples and no trying to amuse myself wid rock-statues and carvings of things i do not understand… yunnyi and I decided to make a trip to Angkor Wat… a place where all tourists would choose to go in Siem Reap. After Angkor Wat, and if we can get tickets back to KL, we would rather spend our money in KL for a more relaxing vacation. It's not cheap… food and transport fees over there in Siem Reap. We needed RM1k for all the ordinary food we ate, and the fees to pay for all the so not attractive statues! Even the fees we had to pay in order to visit some of the temples there were already USD40 for 3 days. I'm not an archeologist or a photographer… I really dont need 3 days there to see more or less similar temples, carvings, statues and ruins!
So yunnyi and I made our way to Angkor Wat then… juz the 2 of us without the rest. We rested about an hour b4 we can make our way around Angkor Wat. At least Angkor Wat is so much more beautiful compared to the rest. It's really like an ancient kingdom… built tall, high, big and magnificent! We took snapshots of ourselves… made our way here and there…
One of the most meaningful thing we did that day was to climb up the very steep steps of the Angkor Wat, to reach the top level of the Angkor Wat temples. Lots of other tourists were making their way up the steps as well and we decided to go up to see what's there. Old folks…. aged aunties and uncles, little kids…. all try to go up the steps. yunnyi and i really tot for a long time if or not to go up the steps. Our limbs were so tired from yesterday's climbing n tat day's trekking, we were scared we'd give up halfway up the steps. And the biggest problem of all…. how are we going to GET DOWN and BACK TO SOLID EARTH GROUND????
We saw tat there's a handrail designated purposely to help ppl to get down from one of the exit of the temples. Knowing there's a handrail which we can cling on to when we are on our way down, made us finally climbed up the steps of the very tall temples!!!
I admit I was really very scared, and I can feel my limbs shaking…. height phobia… wat if I fell…. right from the very top steps??? I think I'd have died or even worse paralysed… thinking about tat my limbs really shook…. and I climbed up before yunnyi…. really slowly and carefully, looking all the way up for rocks, stones, jutting edges that I can hold on to. When i was about to reach the top, I have to overcome some of the more difficult steps in order to hurl myself over the entrance of the temples… I stood there, with legs shaking as I was so scared I would slipped, or my shoes slipped and rocketed down to the ground below, or I would not have enough energy to hurl myself over the last few steps, or I'd lost my balance…. I really stood there on top of the stairs telling yunnyi I was scared. As I was in front of her, she couldn't proceed wid her climb too if i stopped in my tracks and she was shouting at me to move on…. i know she's scared too tat i stopped mid-way… on top of the stairs, facing all the ppl who looked so tiny below us…. was really shaking! An Indian lady still sat there, blocking my way…. asking water from me, as I was carrying a mineral water bottle then!
yunnyi… u r so much better because you do not need to hold on to the water bottle!!!!
Finally I climbed through the entrance of the temple… feel so proud of myself! I really feel satisfied but am still very scared. Tat was among the best thing we did tat day, climbing the steps of Angkor Wat. There's a great Buddha statue there in the top temple, and ppl were kneeling and praying and offering joss sticks to it. I juz looked at it, and walked past by. Do you really fulfill wishes ppl made???
When it was time to go down, we queued at the exit tat had the handrail. Found it so much easier to make my way down then up… but tat's the opposite case for yunnyi. When i reached the ground, she was still halfway up the middle stairways. We really haf a meaningful tat day! At least all the way from Msia not for a waste at the Angkor Wat!
5th, 6th March – No more temples visiting!!! On both days, we slept til 1230 and went for lunch, massage and shopping and back to our room to rest. 2 hrs of massage per day – 1hr of foot massage and 1hr of body massage – this is vacation!!! Though the massage made part of my body ache, especially the sole of my feet… and part of my body bruised, it's a nice experience for me. I guess I'm juz too 'tofu' for these massage thing maybe, though they really don't feel pain as the Khmer massage is soft massage unlike Thai and Jap massage, which are hard massage. We tried the Tuk-Tuk ride too… USD1 to Old Market from our hotel.
A tuk-tuk driver even offered yunnyi n me one more free ride around that area when we reached our hotel. When we say no, he offered to bring us to Angkor Wat for sunset view for free! Wah… for free… thanks but really no thank-you… we'd been to Angkor Wat and the roads were so dusty. All the way on tuk-tuk to Angkor Wat, we feared we'll tuk back in dust!
At nite time, we go pubbing at the Bar Street. Alcohol and cocktails are cheap! Had a few drinks and nice chats wid the locals there. At least a better trip these 2 days… relax, nice western n local food, and alcohol!!!

Today i’ll be working half day as i’d applied for 3.5 days of annual leave. Half day in here means i can leave after 1130am. Will be leaving for KL later tonite and to Siem Reap tomorrow morning. Hadn’t really know wat i’d be doing there, juz following some old friends around for a trip. Heard from my frens tat had done some research concerning the places of interests there, it’s plainly juz temples and temples and temples. Had known tat Angkor Wat had used to be a great civilization before it came down to ruins. Read more or less that the religion there is Buddha, so i guess we’ll be seeing lots of these statues.
Temples aren’t so much of my interests. Hadn’t been able to withstand the smell of josssticks and incense burning as they always cause me to feel stuffy and having difficulty in breathing. Sometimes will feel dizzy too. Hopefully we can go to some market that sell really cheap local stuffs and maybe i can get a piece or two of the local handicraft.
The tickets we had gotten were really cheap ~ around RM150 only for return tickets. Thanks to hiewming and yunnyi’s great effort in trying to get the cheap tickets from AirAsia tat we’ll be able to go for this trip. What thrilled me the most isn’t the trip actually, but to meet up with some old friends. Perhaps I’d missed out quite a number of things in life and those old times together with them are among some of the things I’d miss and would think back of sometimes.
Lately I’d been busy at work. Knowing that I’ll be on leave for a few days, I’ll need to finish work that I have in hand. Things came rushing in on Monday just when I thought the system was running well, and news were that I’d have to add a few more changes to improve the system. Changes are good as it means that there are feedbacks and suggestions from users who are interested in the system. What I fear is that I won’t be able to finish all the changes in time for the testing that is scheduled next week. I do not want to bring any workload in mind when I go for vacation. Luckily am still able to modify some of the major changes though it does affects most of the current flow. Hopefully the system will run just fine!
Hope I’ll have an enjoyable trip to Siem Reap!
